Live brand experience: Nine out of ten businesses use social networking to promote their brand, says study

Date: 2011-06-03

If you're looking for a way to enhance your live brand experience then social media could be the answer.

A new survey by IET Venues has revealed that nine out of ten businesses use social networking as part of their event, and almost three-quarters use it to raise awareness of their brand experience.

Networking site Facebook is the most popular platform used by businesses during their events, as it is used by 65 per cent of organisers.

Only 14 per cent of event organisers are not aware of the power of social media and do not chose to incorporate it into their brand experience, the survey showed.

Lucy Wright, IET London: Savoy Place sales and development manager, said: "Social media will hopefully enhance and prolong the event experience and venues themselves can also help facilitate this with their own twitter feeds and services like live streaming of events.

"Like any other form of marketing though, it's important to know your audience and identify the correct channel before launching any activity."

Marketing Week recently said that brand experiences are a great way to introduce customers to an experience – so reaching more customers with social networking could increase the circulation of your brand.
